Pelleting Equipment - Amandus Kahl:

Wood Pelleting Plant

Amandus Kahl offers pelleting presses with a drive power from 3 kW to 500 kW. In total, 11 different sizes are available.  The production capacities of most plants range between 1.5 and 8 t/hour.  Smaller plants work efficiently, too. Larger plants of up to 40 t/h are provided for industrial production of pellets.

For decades KAHL pelleting plants have been applied successfully for compacting organic products of different particle sizes, moisture contents, and bulk densities.

Possible applications of the KAHL pelleting presses are wood waste, wood shavings, wood chips, sawdust and  sanding dust

Pellet Mill

The product is pressed through a die by pan grinder rollers, formed into endless strands, and then cut to the desired particle length by means of knives.

Prerequisites for optimum operation are continuous product feeding into the press and a homogeneous, sufficiently precrushed product. Due to the large volume reduction when compacting wood and wood shavings, particularly sawdust from about 100 to 650 kg/m3, the capacity of the machine, i.e. the press interior, must be as large as possible.

Further requirements made by the wood industry are a robust machine construction and a high availability of the plant.

Pellet Die

Good pellet quality, long service lives and fast die change ensure the productivity of the pellet manufacturing plant.

Pellet Dryer/Cooler

Cooling / drying is achieved on the cross and counter-current principle, depending on the number of belts.  Cold / hot air flows from below through the product bed transversely to the running direction of the conveyor belts.  While passing, the air becomes hot and creates a gentle drying / cooling without causing the pellets to crack.

Due to the modular design the belt units can be arranged so as to maximize the required process technology

Hammermills

Amandus Kahl manufactures hammermills for grinding of chips, sawdust and other residual wood products to be used for the production of pellets.  The hammermills can be equipped with different screening options to obtain the desired final product.
