Calculator for finding the wood chip length produced on a chipping canter head, based on number of knives, head rpm and feed speed.  Also includes user selectable international numeric formatting conventions and Metric (SI) and Imperial (UK and US) units.

Canter infeed slew and skew positions the log to the correct position, in relation to the canter side heads.

If the log "sawing" centreline is skewed to the canter centreline in the infeed, the infeed skews and offsets to align the log centreline with the canter centreline.  The infeed then slews (moves sideways) as the log is processed through the side heads.
If the log is parallel to the canter heads but offset from the canter centreline, the infeed offsets only to align the log to the side heads.

Used on double length infeeds (DLI), optimized length infeeds (OLI) and single length infeeds (SLI).

Canter infeed tilt and slew positions the log to the correct position, in relation to the canter bottom head. 

If the log "sawing" bottom face is skewed to the canter bottom head in the infeed, the infeed tilts and offsets to align the log bottom with the bottom chipping head.  The infeed then slews (moves vertically) as the log is processed through the bottom head.
If the log bottom is parallel to the bed line but offset from the bottom head, the infeed offsets only to align the log to the bottom head. 

Used on double length infeeds (DLI), optimized length infeeds (OLI) and single length infeeds (SLI).

The log turner rolls clamp onto the end of the log and attempt to turn it the desired degree of rotation.  Once the turn is complete the log rotation correction scanners (mounted just after the log turner rolls) scan a few feet of the log profile and compare this with profiles obtained during the initial log scanning.  Based on this data the log turner applies a correction degree of rotation to bring the log into the optimal solution position.

Auto rotation of logs with sweep improves lumber recovery by rotating the log to provide a more valuable solution.

Scanning and rotating the logs for splits and cracks allows for positioning the split in a position to provide the maximum value solution.
